Dupont Underground

Abandoned almost continuously for over 50 years, this former trolley station below historic Dupont Circle has already been reborn as a rebellious citizen lead arts organization. The vision for this space was intended to build upon that momentum, amplifying what makes it unique and captivating: the ability to be thoroughly immersed, both physically underground and through its digital media running continuously along its seductively curving interior walls. The concept is simply to attach - to the ceiling - a low profile and minimally detailed housing for all necessary mechanical infrastructure (i.e. power, lighting, air conditioning, sprinklers, etc.). The exposed face of the housing is envisioned as a continuous digital surface. A similar strategy will be integrated into the existing track bed to literally wrap the space in digital media.

University Cultural Center Entry Redesign

The Nyumburu Cultural Center Exterior Improvements introduce three new canopies that support both everyday use and programmed events across key outdoor spaces. At the upper terrace, two canopies frame existing masonry enclosures adjacent to the main entry, providing shade and weather protection for informal student gathering and event use. At the lower amphitheater, a third canopy spans the building entrance, offering shelter during performances and daily circulation. Across all interventions, material, color, and pattern are carefully considered to extend the cultural language of the existing building—drawing from its established motifs to reinforce identity while introducing a contemporary layer of use and performance.

As the first gender-neutral restrooms on campus, the project exemplifies creative problem-solving within tight spatial constraints.
